Song of the Day

Sun Kil Moon

Sun Kil Moon is Mark Kozelek’s project following the breakup of Red House Painters, his acclaimed band from San Francisco in the 90’s.

He now records with a variety of musicians or solo.

Benji, his 6th, is his latest album.

There are so many good songs on this album it’s hard to choose just one, so here is the last track “Ben’s My Friend”.

Courtney Barnett

Courtney Barnett is a new captivating and beguiling talent from Melbourne.

She has only released 2 EPs thus far to date: I’ve Got a Friend Called Emily Ferris and How To Carve a Carrot Into a Rose.

The two have now been combined entitled: The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas.

“Avant Gardener” is our introduction to the world of Courtney Barnett.

Sisyphus

Sufjan Stevens has teamed up with hip-hop musician Son Lux and rapper Serengeti to form the group Sisyphus.

They released an EP a couple of years ago under the name s/s/s, but the name sounded too much like the Nazi paramilitary organization so the name change.

Their self-titled debut album is due next month with the song “Rhythm of Devotion”.

Angel Olsen

Angel Olsen, is a singer/guitarist from Chicago via St. Louis.

A former player with Bonnie “Prince” Billy and the more obscure The Cairo Gang, her newly released 2nd album has the intriguing title Burn Your Fire For No Witness.

“Hi-Five” from the record is equally intriguing.
