Mission of Burma

Mission of Burma is one of the most influential bands to ever come out of Boston. Post-punk, vitally intense, uncannily discordant and blazingly modern the band turned rock over in 1979 and exposed its dark underbelly.

Mission of Burma disbanded in 1983 due to guitarist Roger Miller’s tinnitus, but in 2002 famously reunited and have since recorded 4 albums, the most recent Unsound released this past summer.

Learn How: The Essential Mission of Burma is a greatest hits compilation scheduled for December.

“Second Television” from Unsound will be included.

∆, Alt-J

, pronounced in this case Alt-J, just won the Mercury Music Prize.

The award is given annually to the best album from the UK and Ireland.

(The band’s name derives from pressing Alt-J on a Mac keyboard to achieve the Delta symbol. Delta is used to denote “change” in mathematical equations. )

“Fitzpleasure” is from An Awesome Wave, Alt-J’s winning debut.
