Echo in the Canyon was a concert that took place in Los Angeles in October.
Fiona Apple, Beck, Jakob Dylan, Cat Power, Regina Specktor and Jade Castrinos (formerly of Edward Sharpe) performed songs by The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, The Mamas & The Papas, The Association among others to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the birth of the Southern California folk-rock scene.
Jakob Dylan teamed up with Cat Power for a great version of the Turtles hit “You Showed Me”, which was written by the Byrds’ Gene Clark and Jim McGuinn.

We haven’t heard new music from the wondrous Cat Power in over 6 years.
She took the time to recover from a breakdown and substance abuse releasing only a covers album.
She returns to us with her 9th album, Sun, due in September.
“Ruin”, the first single, makes us long for the end of summer. (Free download from her website.)
