Agnes Obel is a Danish singer/songwriter whose debut album Philharmonics was acclaimed in northern Europe.
Her 2nd, Aventine was released last fall and word is beginning to spread of her talent.
“Dorian” is an example.
The Danish duo Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo are The Raveonettes.
Together since 2001, they infuse male/female harmonies, melody, and a bit of noise with unexpected somber lyrics.
Raven in the Grave, their fifth album, will be released in April.
Here is a new dreamier side of The Raveonettes as we hear in “Forget That You’re Young”, a free download from the album.
In Sharin’s own words: “It’s dark but not bleak, like the single minded determination caused by crisis that is not quite hope but just as powerful. It’s the perfect winter soundtrack just in time for spring.”
Perfect indeed.
