We spun it old school at Spit on Saturday night. Some classic punk and new wave from the day. There were four of us spinning and here is what I played during my turn on the tables for your dancing and listening pleasure.

Bronski Beat! Oh man … totally forgot about them. I spent a night drinking with Jimmy Somerville once. Tiny man who can drink an AMAZING amount of whiskey….
It would be great if Spit Night was repeated on a somewhat regular basis – (every 6 months at the least?). That’s an amazing set list. Brings back so many great memories, especially “The Atlantics”, “Romeo Void”, “999”, and “Gen X”. Love it, love it!
do you think that people would come out every 6 months or was it a one off fun evening with great songs from the punk/new wave era?
O,
I was in grad school at B.U. in 1980, and shortly after that Tad Bonvie and I did the one ROCK show on KISS108 at the time. 30 years later, I STILL talk about SPIT and those days on my radio shows here in San Francisco, when I play a lot of these tracks.
But the past is still the present: I had The Atlantics on my show a couple of years ago (went to Boston to interview them) am going to likely help Deborah Iyall with her new album and went to Malibu a couple of years back to do a re-visited “duo” of Sex with Terri Nunn (who Debora and Martha Davis are still doing things with.)
It’s a time capsule that we all remember because it was that special. And it is very cool that you have started this site.
Cheers,

I would definitely attend a regularly scheduled Spit Night, especially as I missed this one. I doubt I’m the only one interested…
