The Ramones

Joey Ramone

Dear friend Joey Ramone died in 2001.

I miss our late-night all-night phone conservations of music, art and life, his warmth, his passion, his compassion.

…ya know? is Joey’s 2nd posthumous album due later this month.

“What Did I Do to Deserve You?” is a free download from the album.

If the chorus sounds familiar it is lifted from “Beat on the Brat” from the first Ramones album.

The Vaccines

The Vaccines debut album What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? Is now available in this country.

One listen to this British quartet and their debt to the Ramones is evident.

As Joey Ramone would have told me: “They’re one of us”.

“Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra) kicks off the album at a perfect 1 minute, 24 seconds. Punk rock at its finest.

Spit Night

Marky Ramone

My friend, Harvey Leeds, who helped develop innumerable artists at Epic Records, and who is now a manager extraordinaire, sent me this delightful new addition for my collection. Marky Ramone, the second drummer for the Ramones, replaced Tommy Ramone in 1978. (Of note, only the two drummers of the Ramones have survived). Marky stills drums but recently launched his own line of pasta sauce! I just had to share this. When I obtain a 2nd jar, I’ll sample the contents. Until then, it will proudly be displayed on the mantle.
