Bjork

Björk & Rosalía

Björk has just released a new song with Spanish singer Rosalía.

Oral” is her protest against Norwegian-owned commercial salmon farming operations on Iceland’s native ecosystems. The fjords are threatened due to parasitic parasite-ridden fish that are genetically different from Icelandic salmon.

“Opal” was written by Björk years ago but felt it was appropriate now.

Arca

She calls herself Arca.

Venezuelan producer and DJ Alejandro Ghersi has worked with FKA Twigs, Kanye West and currently with Bjork.

Xen is her first studio album.

Hear two from the innovator that is Arca.

Dirty Projectors

Dirty Projectors is the brainchild of David Longstreth and various cohorts.

The distinctive voices and unusual musical stylings of this ensemble are both divisive and intriguing. And uniquely their own.

Wildly experimental, Dirty Projectors has collaborated with the likes of Björk and David Byrne.

Swing Lo Magellan will be 8th album from this Brooklyn-based troupe.

“Gun Has No Trigger” is the first offering from the album.

Björk

Björk’s new album Biophilia was composed partly on her iPad.

In collaboration with Apple, it will be the “first app album”, a multi-media extravaganza with each song corresponding to an individual app.

Discussing the Biophilia project on her website, Björk tells us that she researched “where music and nature meet, and structures in nature and structures in music and where they are similar and then going and writing the songs.”

“Crystalline” is our first taste of the music.

Jónsi

Iceland’s other great import has been Sigur Rós. The sounds of falsetto Icelandic dialect enveloped in ethereal instrumentation provides a complimentary counterpoint to the fabulous Björk. With Sigur Rós on permanent hiatus, the lead singer and guitarist, Jónsi, is releasing his first solo album entitled Go. “Go Do” is the from this album.
