Gnarls Barkley

Cee Lo Green soulful cover of Kings of Leon

Cee Lo Green, the man can sing! The vocal half of Gnarls Barkley and a solo artist in his own right, his song “Fuck You” was a viral hit in the late summer. Within one week of its release, this song of a poor jilted lover was ubiquitous, the lyrics changed to “Forget You” for radio play. It’s included now on his new album The Lady Killer. Not on the album is his soulful version of the Kings of Leon song “Radioactive”. The song takes on new meaning when sung by Cee Lo. It’s free and is the Song of the Day.

Broken Bells

Broken Bells is the collaboration between the great producer Danger Mouse and James Mercer (lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of the Shins). Danger Mouse thrilled us in 2004 with the Grey Album, his clever mash-up of the vocals from the Black Album by Jay Z and the White Album by the Beatles. His brilliance continued when he formed Gnarls Barkley with the out-of-box hit “Crazy”. The self-titled Broken Bells album has been out for a couple of months and continues to delight. Here are two as the Song(s) of the Day.
