Jack White

Beck Song Reader

In 2012 Beck released Song Reader, an album of only sheet music with the hope that musicians would perform and record their own interpretations of his songs.

We now have a recording of these 20 songs from the likes of Tweedy, Norah Jones, Lord Huron, Jack White, Laura Marling, Jarvis Cocker, David Johansen, Eleanor Friedberger, Sparks, Jack Black, and Beck himself.

Listen here to Laura Marling singing “Sorry” followed by Jarvis Cocker’s contribution “Eyes That Say ‘I Love You’”.

Jack White

Jack White is so prolific it’s hard to believe that he has never released a solo album.

From The White Stripes, The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs to his numerous collaborations, guest appearances and record production, the man has been a ubiquitous musical presence since The White Stripes debuted in 1999.

Blunderbuss will be the title of his solo album due in April.

“Love Interruption” is the first single.

Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi featuring Jack White

Danger Mouse, producer and musician extraordinaire (The Grey Album, Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley, Beck, Broken Bells) has collaborated with Daniele Luppi, an Italian film composer.

Ensconced in a recording studio in Rome used for classic Italian films of the 60s and 70s and reassembling vintage recording equipment and musicians from the era, the two recorded songs live and straight to tape with no computers and 21st century effects and trickery.

Enlisting the vocals of Jack White and Norah Jones, the album Rome was born.

Karen Elson

Karen Elson is a singer/songwriter. She is also a top fashion model and the wife of Jack White (The White Stripes, The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs). He produced the song and plays drums. Lest you think that this is some pretty chick slumming as a musician, this woman can sing and has an edgy downtown New York past. “The Ghost Who Walks” is from her forthcoming album of the same name.

The Dead Weather

One of the most mesmerizing performances that I have ever experienced was The White Stripes at the Roxy in Boston. This duo of guitar and drums plus vocals hypnotized the room with a sound so full and rich that it was hard to believe that there were just two people on stage. Jack White, the guitarist and singer, has proven to be one of the great futurists of rock, exploring territories yet uncovered. From The White Stripes to The Raconteurs to The Dead Weather, his music is always fascinating and frequently transcendent. The Dead Weather consisting of Jack, playing drums on this project, along with Alison Mosshart (of The Kills and Discount) on lead vocals, Jack Lawrence (of The Raconteurs and The Greenhornes) on bass, and Dean Fertita (of Queens of the Stone Age) on guitar have just released “Die By the Drop” from their forthcoming album Sea of Cowards.
