Dorothy is a relatively new hard rock band from Los Angeles.

With a driving backbeat reminiscent of Jeff Beck, lead singer Dorothy Martin roars on their latest song Down to the Bottom.

Deap Vally is the L.A. rock duo Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards.

We will soon have their 2nd album Femejism.

“Smile More” has attitude to spare.

Beverly was the Brooklyn duo of Frankie Rose and Drew Citron.

Rose was also an original member of Crystal Stilts, Dum Dum Girls and Vivian Girls. She has since moved to Los Angeles.

Citron carries on with a new partner, Scott Rosenthal, and a new album The Blue Swell.

Echo in the Canyon was a concert that took place in Los Angeles in October.

Fiona Apple, Beck, Jakob Dylan, Cat Power, Regina Specktor and Jade Castrinos (formerly of Edward Sharpe) performed songs by The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, The Mamas & The Papas, The Association among others to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the birth of the Southern California folk-rock scene.

Jakob Dylan teamed up with Cat Power for a great version of the Turtles hit “You Showed Me”, which was written by the Byrds’ Gene Clark and Jim McGuinn.

California Nights is the title and the single from Best Coast.

Zella Day is a young beautiful songwriter hailing from Arizona and now based in L.A.

Expect to hear more about her in the year to come.

Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Hanni El Khatib is a San Francisco garage-rocker, now based in L.A.

He moved quickly from creative director for a skateboard company to full-time musician when Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys took notice and produced his 2nd album.

His 3rd, Moonlight, is brand new as we listen to the song “Melt Me”.

Peaking Lights is the husband-wife duo Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis.

From San Francisco to Wisconsin to their current home in Los Angeles, they travel with their two young sons and create music.

Cherry Glazerr is a young garage trio from L.A.

How young? 2/3rds of the band are still in high school including lead vocalist and guitarist Clementine Creevy.

Interestingly, the song “Had Ten Dollaz” was commissioned for the Paris fall runway show by Saint Laurent.

Babes is a new 5-piece out of L.A. featuring siblings Aaron, Zach and Sarah.

Their impressive first EP came out a few days ago.

Next week the band with the unusual name will finally release their debut album entitled Tolerance.
