Song of the Day

Mazzy Star

Mazzy Star debuted in 1990, recorded and performed until 1996 and then took a lengthy hiatus.

Now that they have reformed the duo of Hope Sandoval and David Roback will release their 4th album Seasons of Your Day in later September.

Hope’s vocals continue haunt as heard here in the song “California”.

Chvrches

We so love this band. Chvrches was spotlighted here in March with their 1st EP.

Their debut album, The Bones of What You Believe, is due in later September.

Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty make up the trio.

“The Mother We Share” was an early single release in 2012 and is now the featured track from the forthcoming album.

Elvis Costello and The Roots

Elvis Costello is one of the most prolific artists in music, crossing genres and exploring diverse sounds, all featuring his distinctive tenor.

I’ve had some legendary encounters with Elvis ever since his debut My Aim is True and his first tour of the US in 1977.

Multiple albums and collaborations later, he has now recorded a record with The Roots due in September.

“Walk Us Uptown” is from the forthcoming Wise Up Ghost.

Empire of the Sun

Empire of the Sun is the Australian electronic duo Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore.

They debuted in 2008, toured, then took some time off and only just released their second album, Ice on the Dune, this past June.

These colorful performers now give us the infectious “Alive”, perfect for the summer.

Dropkick Murphys

Boston’s Dropkick Murphys have raised over $300,000 for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Through the band’s charitable foundation, the Claddagh Fund, 100% of the proceeds directly benefit those affected by the bombings and their families.

The Dropkicks raised the money by selling a specially designed t-shirt and hosting a benefit concert. They continue to generate funds with a Charity EP of three of their songs including “Rose Tattoo” featuring Bruce Springsteen.
