Song of the Day

Transplants

Transplants, the punk rock supergroup with core members Tim Armstrong (Rancid), Travis Barker (Blink-182) and Skinhead Rob Aston, have recently released their 3rd album In a Warzone.

They have recorded and toured together on and off since 1999 but clearly their other projects have kept them busy.

“Something’s Different” is the current single.

Neko Case

The chanteuse, Neko Case, known both for her solo projects and her work with The New Pornographers, has teamed up with guitarist M. Ward (a la She & Him) for her unorthodox song called “Man”.

“Man” will be included on her forthcoming album, the wonderfully titled The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You.

Divine Fits

Divine Fits is a supergroup of sorts consisting of former Spoon frontman Britt Daniel, Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade, Sam Brown from New Bomb Turks and keyboardist Alex Fischel.

Their debut album A Thing Called Divine Fits came out last year.

They return with a double-sided single. Here we hear “Chained to Love” which is currently a free download from the Divine Fits website.

Washed Out

One of my favorite albums in recent memory is the debut from Washed Out. Within and Without came out in 2011 and has remained a staple of mine for two years. It is a complete album, from start to finish, so rare these days.

Sub Pop will release Paracosm, the new Washed Out album in August.

Our appetites are teased with the song “It All Feels Right”.

Nine Inch Nails

Nine Inch Nails has been on hiatus for the past 5 years while Trent Reznor performed with How to Destroy Angels and created notable film soundtracks for The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Now NIN returns with a new label and a new album.

With Hesitation Marks due in September, “Came Back Haunted” is the first single that will haunt us all summer.
