The Decemberists: Free download
Portland, Oregon darlings The Decemberists have a new album due in January of next year. We’ve been told that some of The King Is Dead is R.E.M. inspired and no doubt you will hear a bit of this influence in “Down By the Water”, a free download from the album. And none other than R.E.M. guitarist, Peter Buck, makes an appearance on this track as does singer/songwriter Gillian Welch. The Decemberists’ repertoire of lush story-telling, folk-rock instrumentations and melodic lyricism continues to reaffirm that they are one of America’s most vital bands.
