Regina Spektor

Hamilton Mixtape

The Hamilton Mixtape records new versions of the songs from the ground-breaking Broadway play “Hamilton”.

Featuring a diverse range of artists from the Roots to Usher, Wiz Khalifa to Chance the Rapper, here Regina Spektor along with Ben Folds sing “Dear Theodosia”, a song that Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton sing to their newborn children, reflecting on fatherhood, their own lives as orphans, (Hamilton an immigrant), and promising to do everything possible to make it a better country for them.

Prescient today…

Regina Spektor

The wonderfully eccentric artist Regina Spektor will give us her 7th album, Remember Us to Life, in September.

Her songs are rich and varied, each unique unto itself.

“Bleeding Heart” is from her forthcoming album.

“Oedipus” from her 2nd album Songs.

Peter Gabriel and Arcade Fire

In 2010 Peter Gabriel recorded an album entitled Scratch My Back.

It consisted of gorgeous cover versions of songs by artists that he admires, including Lou Reed, Bon Iver, Regina Spektor, Radiohead, David Bowie, Talking Heads and Arcade Fire.

Many of these same artists have returned the favor by recording his songs on the album And I’ll Scratch Yours.

Listen here to Peter Gabriel’s version of Arcades Fires’ “My Body is a Cage” and then Arcades Fire performing Gabriel’s “Games Without Frontiers”.
