Mary Timony, guitarist and songwriter for such legendary bands Helium, Autoclave, Wild Flag and Ex-Hex, will soon release her 5th solo album, Untame the Tiger.
We have waited 15 years for this album. Much too long but now we have the “Dominoes” to remind us of her musical gift.
Before we move into the new year allow me to suggest the free download from Spin.
24 tracks from 2011 including Deer Tick, EMA, Fucked Up, Kurt Vile, Zola Jesus, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Phantogram, and Wild Flag, all heard here last year.
Also featured is Yuck, the quartet from London, who made their debut in 2011.

Wild Flag is a dream indie female supergroup.
Carrie Brownstein (vocals/guitar) and Janet Weiss (drums) were formerly in Sleater-Kinney.
Mary Timony (vocals/guitar) was the leader of Helium and Rebecca Cole (keyboards) a member of the cult band The Minders.
Their eponymously titled debut album is available on Tuesday filled with dissonant voices and discordant guitars.
“Romance” is the lead track.
