Song of the Day

Tara MacLean

Tara MacLean is one of the great artists/people in the world.

Self-taught, her talent is nonpareil: a voice of a goddess, a heart of an angel.

Her memoir: Song of the Sparrow, is due out in March with an album that is the soundtrack to follow.

“Sparrow” is appropriately the 1st song.

Daughter

Daughter is an indie folk trio consisting of frontwoman Elena Tonra from London,  Swiss guitarist Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella from France.

The forthcoming album Stereo Mind Game leads with the lovely “Be On Your Way”.

Black Belt Eagle Scout

Black Belt Eagle Scout is Portland’s Katherine Paul.

During the shutdown she experienced a call to explore her ancestral indigenous homeland as heard on her 3rd album, The Land, the Water, the Sky.

“Nobody” is the latest single.

Weyes Blood

Singer/songwriter Weyes Blood, a former college DJ, evolved from a noise rocker to a softer introspection style.

Her album And In the Darkness, Hearts Aglow, came out late last year.

Listen to here to 2 exquisite tracks : “It’s Not Just Me It’s Everybody” and “Children of the Empire”.

Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe Bridgers continues her tradition of releasing an annual sad Christmas cover song.

This year it is the devastating “So Much Wine”, originally by The Handsome Family.

Proceeds this year benefit the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Eddie Japan

Eddie Japan, is a Boston-based ensemble that has previously won the legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble as well as the Boston Music Awards.

The new single “Walk Away” is so incredibly infectious and one of my faves of the year.

The song will be included on the album Pop Fiction due in the new year.
