St. Vincent’s album St. Vincent is one of the best of the year.
“Pieta” recorded during the St. Vincent sessions was released as a 10-inch single on Black Friday for Record Store Day celebrating independent record stores.

The Dead Weather, the supergroup from Nashville, consisting of Jack White, Alison Mosshart, Jack Lawrence and Dean Fertita, occasionally drop a new song.
“Buzzkill(er)” has recently been released as we long for more.
She & Him, the charming duet of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, have flirted with some of the great songs from the past.
Now they give us a complete album appropriately titled Classics.

TV on the Radio, the wildly eclectic progressive indie band out of Brooklyn, have a new album Seeds, and the first since the untimely death of bassist Gerard Smith.

MOURN is a very young quartet out of Catalonia, Spain.
Jazz Rodríguez Bueno (frontwoman) and Carla Pérez Vas (guitarist/vocalist), both 18, began writing together and added drummer Antonio Postius and bassist Leia Rodríguez (Jazz’s sister), 18 and 15 respectively, to create music far beyond their years.
“Otitis” is from their self-titled debut album.
Thurston Moore, Sonic Youth originator and notable guitarist, has a new solo album.
The Best Day is the album title and the marvelous lead song.

Peaking Lights is the husband-wife duo Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis.
From San Francisco to Wisconsin to their current home in Los Angeles, they travel with their two young sons and create music.

Cherry Glazerr is a young garage trio from L.A.
How young? 2/3rds of the band are still in high school including lead vocalist and guitarist Clementine Creevy.
Interestingly, the song “Had Ten Dollaz” was commissioned for the Paris fall runway show by Saint Laurent.
Belle and Sebastian offer their 9th studio album in the new year.
We haven’t heard from them since 2010 but leader Stuart Murdoch has been busy publishing a memoir and directing a feature film.
Wonderfully titled Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance, the first single is “The Party Line”.
David Bowie will soon be releasing an elaborate greatest hits compilation entitled Nothing Has Changed.
One new song will appear, the wildly jazz improvisational “Sue (Or in a Season of Crime)”.
Iconic riot-grrrl band Sleater-Kinney have returned after a 10-year absence.
Corin Tucker (vocals and guitar), Carrie Brownstein (guitar and vocals), and Janet Weiss (drums) will soon release No Cities to Love.
