MGMT

Hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since MGMT rocked our world with Oracular Spectacular.

Fortunately since then they have pushed the limits of their creativity and we never know where they are going to lead us.

Little Dark Age is their 4th, due shortly.

When You Die and Hand It Over are both on the album.

The Decemberists

Portland, Oregon’s The Decemberists are one of the best American bands extant.

Our last posting featured their take on a new song from the musical Hamilton.

Now the band has just announced a new album, I’ll be Your Girl, with the song Severed.

(P.S. shades of the band 999, if you get my reference.)

Severed

Hamildrops

Last year (actually December 2016) Lin-Manuel Miranda released the album The Hamilton Mixtape, the songs from his play Hamilton performed by various artists.

This past December he began a new concept. New content from his musical will be released as one song a month under the moniker Hamildrops.

The first of these is Ben Franklin’s Song performed by The Decemberists.

Ben Franklin’s Song

Jonathan Wilson

Jonathan Wilson is a musician’s musician.

Credited with revitalizing the Laurel Canyon music scene, he has played with countless artists from Jackson Browne to Erykah Badu, Conor Oberst to Father John Misty.

Rare Birds is his 6th solo album and I love the song Over the Midnight.
