Lykke Li has formed a supergroup with producer (and boyfriend) Jeff Bhasker (who has worked with such artists as Kanye West, Mark Ronson, and fun.), Andrew Wyatt and Pontus Winnberg of Miike Snow and Björn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John.
“Wings of Love” is their first song.

It’s Lollapalooza weekend in Chicago.
Perry Farrell’s vision is now 2O years old.
As usual the lineup is impressive and Spin is offering a free download of 14 of the performing bands such as Lykke Li, Foster the People, Black Lips, Titus Andronicus, the Mountain Goats and Ratatat.
Beirut, the Balkan folk indie-rock band from Santa Fe, led by Zach Condon, is included as well.
“East Harlem” is from Beirut’s recently released third album, The Rip Tide.

Glastonbury, the world’s largest music and arts festival, takes place this weekend in South West England.
Traditionally the last weekend in June, Glastonbury has been going strong since 1970 when T.Rex was the headliner.
Today, the line-up is daunting with hundreds of bands and performing artists on numerous stages covering 900 acres.
RCRDLBL has a free download of thirty-one of the bands appearing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, including The Kills, Lykke Li, Janelle Monae, Battles, Fleet Foxes, Warpaint, Wu-Tang Clan and, and this song “Celestica” from Crystal Castles remixed by Thurston Moore.

One of my favorite songs of last year was Lykke Li’s “Get Some”.
We featured it here in the October.
Her album Wounded Rhymes is due in late February.
The next single from this Swedish chanteuse is “I Follow Rivers” and is the Song of the Day.

“I Follow Rivers” by Lykke Li
The world of music is cyclical and goes into hiatus a few weeks before Christmas and into the new year. Slowly new music is released in January and gains momentum later in the winter flowing into the spring.
Bands that enthralled me last year included Arcade Fire, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Avi Buffalo, Badly Drawn Boy, Beach House, Belle & Sebastian, Best Coast, Blonde Redhead, Delorean, The Drums, Dum Dum Girls, Eminem, Girl Talk, Glasser, Gorillaz, Janelle Monáe, Joanna Newsom, Karen Elson, Laura Marling, Lykke Li, Matt & Kim, Mumford & Sons, The National, No Age, Perfume Genius, Phoenix, School of Seven Bells, She & Him, Shearwater, Sleigh Bells, Stars, Titus Andronicus and Warpaint.
And The xx continued to give me great pleasure.
Here you will hear the best new music as it becomes available.
Next week we will have an exclusive Cure video.
Happy New Year indeed.
Lykke Li is a compelling Swedish singer who has one album and a number of EPs under her name, and has performed with the likes of Röykscopp, Kings of Leon, Drake, Kanye West and Amanda Blank. Her new song “Get Some” has an irresistible “I Want Candy”/Bo Diddley backbeat combined with overt sexual lyrical imagery. She is giving the single away for free here as well as the B-side “Paris Blue”. Dance to this Song of the Day.
